The Card Cooler
For nearly a year, no other CPU cooler has been able to
touch the Alpha P125. Alpha, in a effort to keep ahead of the pack, keeps
improving the P125. They added a copper base plate for better heat transfer.
They made a Pentium 3 version, then a special Athlon version for use with Asus
K7M motherboards. It looked like Alpha was untouchable.
Before there was Alpha, there was Global Win. Finally
getting tired of being upstaged by the Alpha new comer, Global Win went back to
the drawing broad and came out with a series of heatsinks to try to take back
the title as best CPU cooler. One the models they came up with was call the
FKK32. This is basically a bigger version of the award winning
VEK12. While the FKK32 was good, it wasn't enough to take over Alpha's
title. Also, the fans on the FKK32 completely blocked off the ATX power
connector of the Asus K7M motherboard, making installation in the popular Athlon
motherboard impossible without removing one of the fans.
Global Win's solution to their Alpha problem was to make
their new heatsink bigger. How much bigger? The new VOS32 is, believe it or not,
bigger than the Alpha P3125! And here's the amazing part, the fans clears the
ATX power connector of the Asus K7M motherboard. How Global Win managed to pull
this off will be shown later but let me just say this is one impressive looking
heatsink!
The question is will this new VOS32 finally be able to
take the heavy weight title away from the now season Alpha? It's the crash of
two titans (and I do mean titans) and only one will emerge the champion.
