Once in awhile you come across a product that is so
mind blowing, you simply can't believe it. The Alpha P125 heatsink is such a product. This
heatsink rewrites the rules of what makes a kick ass heatsink. It's performance is by far
the best I have even seen in any heatsink.
The Alpha P125 was the heatsink that put Alpha on the
overclocking map. The P125 was originally made to work with Pentium II and Celerons only.
Alpha is working on a version for the Pentium III.
The Alpha P125 is big. No, make that HUGE!!! The unit
is so big it doesn't fit some motherboards or computer cases. Lucky for me I had a big 24
inch In Winn case to put this in.
Alpha coolers comes unassembled and without fans. This
unit was shipped to me from 2CoolTek.
2CoolTek sells their Alpha's with a couple of Global Win 60mm x 25mm fans. These are the
same fans used on Global Win's new VEK 12. They are rated to move 27.2 CFM of air, much
more powerful than the one that Alpha use. The Global Win fans are noisier however.
The price of the Alpha P125 is $29.25 without fans and
$46.75 with Global Wins fans from 2CoolTek.
While this may seem kinda expensive for a heatsink, the price has came down allot. Alpha
P125's use to go for as much as $70! Still, $46.75 is allot of money to pay for a
heatsink. Is it worth 2.5 times the cost of a Global VEK 12? Let's find out.
